Individual therapy provides a safe space for you to work collaboratively with your individual therapist to achieve your short-term and long-term goals. We use an evidence-based approach after completing a thorough psychosocial assessment. We also integrate an anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive framework. The number of sessions depends on the complexity of the presenting concern and your readiness to commit and engage in therapy.

There are many different approaches in psychotherapy or talking therapy which includes:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Psychoanalytic Therapy
Psychodynamic Therapy
Systemic and Family Psychotherapy
Attachment-Based Family Therapy (ABFT)
Narrative Therapy
Eye-Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR)
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
Emotion Focused Therapy
Solution Focused Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

During therapy, homework plays an important role. It might include practicing new skills, reading short bits of information such as handouts provided by your therapist, and sharing feedback about your experience of practicing skills in between your sessions.

If you are in crisis, please call 999, Samaritans call 116 123 or the NHS call 111 or SHOUT text 85258, or go to the nearest A&E.

Couples therapy can be helpful for resolving a variety of relationship problems, such as recurring conflicts, feelings of disconnection, an affair, or difficulties related to sex or external stressors, and more.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy for Couples:
There are some couples who experience high levels of conflict. There are times when reactions are triggered in an instant. As a result, they seem to move quickly from anger to harshness, blame, criticism, and hostility. Emotion dysregulation can negatively impact both partners and the relationship.

Many studies have shown that dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is effective in treating emotion dysregulation problems. Numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of DBT for couples, parents, and families. The DBT approach in Couple/Marriage therapy promotes acceptance and validation of both partners as well as oneself. To gain a better understanding of communication patterns, DBT focuses on bringing awareness to each partner's experience in the present moment.

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT):
EFT focuses on improving the attachment and bonding between you and your partner. The therapist helps you understand and change patterns that lead to feelings of disconnection.

I have experience of working with clients presenting with anxiety-related difficulties such as OCD, phobias as well as generalised anxiety and PTSD. I have also experienced working with clients presenting with low mood and low self-esteem. I draw on a number of therapeutic interventions to provide the best possible support to clients. This allows for greater flexibility to be able to adapt to necessary changes during the course of therapy. I am particularly keen on providing therapies that challenge and stimulate clients to come to realisations that they would not have otherwise considered. We will work together in the exploration of detailed narratives and activities to reveal underlying processes that have resulted in presenting difficulties, as well as addressing them.

I understand it takes a lot of courage to begin and commit to therapy. I will provide a safe environment where we can work collaboratively to better understand your early life experiences, and the systems you have been exposed to throughout your life including family, different institutions, culture, and social norms. Your life experiences can impact your core beliefs, and values, how you regulate your emotions, and how you react/respond to adverse life events. I believe in a holistic and anti-oppressive approach, considering biopsychosocial factors rather than just focusing on mental health diagnoses/symptoms. I bring my authentic self to each session, which includes compassion, curiosity, and, at times, humour and laughs. I only provide virtual therapy.
